The Patle and Pikey Peak trip with the Everest Base Camp Helicopter tour is going to be one of the most popular eco-treks in Nepal. Patle village and the Pikey area is a culturally rich trekking route where you can see ancient monasteries, Buddhist Mani walls and Stupas. On a clear day, we can witness the magnificent views of Mount Everest 8848m, Kanchenjunga 8586m, Makalu 8485m, Ama Dablam 6812m, Mera Peak 6470m, Gauri Shanker 7134m and Numbur Himal to the North and deep valleys dropping away into the clouds to the South from Pikey Peak at 4060m. Sir Edmund Hillary has claimed the view of Everest from Pikey Peak to be his favourite.

We are embarking on a weeklong trek that starts with a picturesque 40-minute helicopter ride to the village of Patle, situated at an elevation of 2600m. In Patle, you will get a chance to immerse yourself in the fascinating Sherpa culture. Staying with a Sherpa family is the perfect way to savour the local cuisine and drinks, listen to the traditional music, witness the authentic lifestyle, and hear captivating histories from the locals.

During our stay in Patle, we will visit the local school founded by Expeditionsresor and constructed under the leadership of Pemba Sherpa. To date, numerous individuals and organizations have contributed donations and funding towards the completion of the construction of two school buildings equipped with classrooms, a computer room, a kitchen, restrooms, and a playground for the children. You will have the opportunity to see several ongoing infrastructure development projects, meet with students and teachers, and distribute school materials.

After our stay in Patle, we will trek to the top of Pikey Peak from where we will view the sunrise. During our trek, we will visit the Thupten Choling monastery. This is a Tibetan Buddhist Monastery that was founded by His Holiness Trulsik Ringboche in the 1960s, after fleeing Tibet. It is a celibate community where you can witness traditional monk dances twice a year, as per the Buddhist calendar.

The combination of stunning natural landscapes, rich cultural experiences, and a sense of personal accomplishment, along with the welcoming hospitality of the Nepalese people in the Himalayan region, make the Patle, Peaky Everest Base Camp helicopter trek one of the most memorable treks in the world.

Arrival in Kathmandu (1,350m) Boutique hotel in

After landing at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Katmandu, Adventure Ascent representatives will be there to greet you and take you to the hotel. We will then check-in at the hotel, freshen up and take a rest. Welcome dinner will be hosted in the evening in typical Nepali’s restaurant.

City tour in Kathmandu and trek preparation

After introduction with the city tour guide at the hotel you will begin your tour to Pashupatinath temple, Swayambhunath stupa and Bouddhanath stupa, which are all world heritage sites. Pashupatinath temple is one of the most important places of pilgrimage for all Hindus. Swayambhunath is also known as the Monkey Temple and Bouddhanath Stupa is one of the largest stupas in the world. After the tour you will meet with your trekking guide, briefing about the trek and checking your trek gears.

Helicopter flight to Patle (2600m)

The village of Patle is a very beautiful, remote local village. Ascent Aid Nepal has been involved to the construction of the school for the local children. Here, all families are dependent on agricultures. You will experience the rich culture, religion, lifestyle and the country side of Nepal.

Taklung and overnight in tent (3 hours)

After breakfast in the local family house, we head towards Taklung and overnight in tents. The route leads us upwards through a beautiful landscape with lushly green forest. There are not many tea houses along the way, which means less people, so we will be able to enjoy the peace and serenity of the path and may be lucky enough to spot some wild animals and birds.

Trek to Pikey Base Camp (3800m) (4 Hours)

After breakfast head towards Pikey base camp. The route leads us upwards through a beautiful landscape with lushly green forest. There are not many tea houses along the way, which means less people, so we will be able to enjoy the peace and serenity of the path and may be lucky enough to spot some wild animals and birds. We will stay overnight in a cozy local tea house.

Pikey peak (4060m) Sunrise View and Trek to Jubesi (2700m) (7 to 8 hours)

We start with an early morning today to witness the sunrise from Pikey peak. We observe the first rays of sun hitting the magnificent mountains including Mount Everest. We stay for a while to take some pictures and appreciate the delightful beauty of the Himalayas. Then we head for Junbesi, through the very beautiful rhododendron forest.

Explore around Junbesi

Today we will head towards the Thupten Chholing Monastery (2950m) which is a 3-hour walk. It is a celibate Tibetan Buddhist Monastery founded by His Holiness Trulsik Ringboche in 1960s after fleeing Tibet. The monastery used to be the refugee camp for the Tibetans. It is a short and beautiful upward walk to the Monastery. Most of the trail follows the bank of the river.

Helicopter Mountain flight via EBC to Dhulikhel (Dwarika’s resort)

We take an early morning final packing and breakfast, then we will wait for the helicopter to pick us up to give us something that will be in our fondest memories for a lifetime. The mountain flight offers you wonderful opportunities to savor the magnificence of glacial lakes, the panoramic view of the mountains like Ama Dablam, Cho Oyu, Luptse, Nuptse and of course the breathtaking view of the grand mount Everest from helicopter.

After our adventurous mountain flight, we will go to the Dhulikel Dwarika Resort. Once we reach Dhulikhel, we can take a rest and enjoy the first real shower since the trip started. Also, the resort has a shop for some souvenir shopping if you would like to bring a memory of Nepal back home.
